Sadly, while The Conjuring 3 does feature some undeniably effective jump scares, it is not as creepy as the original. There are plenty of ambitious CGI-assisted glimpses into the world of demons, but fewer sequences that can match the original's haunting "hide and clap" scene.
The scares are less but they are still there. This would be a good horror movie standalone but as a Conjuring movie it is weaker. The most disappointing part is that the "true" story (depends if you believe in this stuff) would have made for a good movie.

It is a camp fest, and a satire of the SF horror genre, but if it has any deeper meaning, it is as a paean to schlock SF movies and the way a young person could use them to explore the unknown land of sexuality and identity.
In a world where conformity is often celebrated, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a breath of fresh air. It celebrates those who are different, and it does so in a way that is both humorous and empowering. It also doesn't shy away from its homosexual subtext, and it actually embraces it.
